A Rough Sketch
It is really embarressing to post this. It is the rough sketch that was the humble beginning of my Portrait of a Ledgend.
I didn't take a lot of time with this because I knew that the real work would begin once I scanned it in to the computer.
I just needed to get a face and some shading on paper so I'd have something to work with. I used a very hard pencil to block in the sketch prior to shading thinking it would give me the lightest lines, but what it did was make horrible grooves in the paper. Oh well...it might make for a useless original but I still got what I needed to work with and the finished piece which is the fourth entry in this section
