Angel Final
The angel was one I had a lot of trouble with. I love angels, and I collect angel figurines. But drawing one was harder than I thought it would be.
Maybe I just couldn't get the beauty of an angel and her wings to come out the end of my pencil. It took several tries to get her right. I drew her with many faces, and searched for the model face. Then I had a strange but comforting idea. I made the angel a kind of self portrait. I used my high school senior portrait for the face. Do I think of myself as an angel? Well, no. But I think any one of us, at any given time is somebody's angel.
The angel graced the front of my 1999 Christmas cards to family and friends.
